The Innova Crysta is the same trip at ₹500 a day less, driver plus 6 with two captain seats in the middle row; driver plus 7 is subject to availability, when a bench extension is fitted between the captain seats. The Innova Hycross ZX Top is the top model: powered recliner captain seats, a panoramic sunroof and a near-silent hybrid cabin. Rates follow the kilometres covered in a day, so adding a day usually lowers the daily rate. Work out your exact rate.
Nothing is collected from you on the road. The daily rate covers the chauffeur and his allowance. You buy the fuel, full tank out and full tank back, and you pay toll and parking exactly as incurred, against the FASTag statement and the cash receipts. No night charge, no minimum kilometres, no extra kilometre rate, and nothing added for crossing a state line. The car is serviced on schedule at the authorised Toyota workshop and we keep every invoice. Every rule of a booking, written down.
Aurangabad is about 335 km from Andheri, roughly seven hours by the Nashik highway. Three days with Ajanta runs about 870 km garage to garage. On the flat rate none of it is billed by the kilometre: you pay the day rate and fill the fuel your trip uses. A day runs until 12 midnight. If the car reaches our garage after 11 PM on the last day, one extra day's driver allowance is payable; after 12 midnight, the next day's rate applies. A ₹2,000 deposit confirms your date.
Two of these days end with a long walk back to the car park in the heat. The third is a seven-hour drive home. A cooled seat and a quiet cabin are not a luxury on this route, they are the difference between arriving rested and arriving wrecked.
Near-silent hybrid cabin. The Hycross ZX Top is a petrol strong hybrid. It pulls away on electric power in silence, and the cabin stays calm, with far less engine noise and vibration than a diesel.
The Nashik highway is quickest before the trucks. The Hycross and your chauffeur reach your door at first light.
Ajanta has a shuttle from the car park; Ellora you walk from the gate. Your chauffeur parks and waits, and there is no kilometre meter running.
Refill at the end and pay the day rate plus toll and parking. That is the whole bill.

Thirty-four Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves in one basalt cliff. Kailasa, cave sixteen, is cut downward from the rock as a single piece.
Thirty painted and carved caves in a horseshoe gorge, about two and a half hours further. The paintings are the reason to come.

Ellora is closed on Tuesdays. Plan the two on different days or you will drive a long way for a locked gate.
Private cars stop at the T-junction four kilometres short. The shuttle runs from there; your chauffeur waits at the car park.
Flash is not allowed inside the painted caves at Ajanta. Tripods need permission at both sites.
Ellora is spread over two kilometres of cliff and Ajanta is a climb. Comfortable shoes matter more than anything else you pack.
It saves an hour each morning against staying in the city centre.
November to February. April and May on the Deccan plateau are severe and the caves hold the heat.
Starting from Thane, Mulund or Kalyan? The Nashik highway starts on your side of the city. Tell us your pickup point and we will time the departure around it.
At Ajanta private vehicles stop at the Fardapur T junction and visitors transfer to the site shuttle for the last stretch, with a small fare paid on the spot. Ellora has no such restriction and the car goes to the gate. The two sites are about 100 km apart in opposite directions from the city, and they close on different days, which is the single most common mistake on cab websites.
Ajanta runs 9 AM to 5 PM. Ellora runs sunrise to sunset. Drive 100 km to Ellora on a Tuesday and you will find a locked gate.
Rs 40 cash or Rs 35 online for Indian, SAARC and BIMSTEC visitors. Rs 600 cash or Rs 550 online for others. Children under 15 free. Booking online saves five rupees and a queue.
Different closing days and 100 km in opposite directions mean the two caves cannot sensibly share a day. Anyone selling you both in one day has not checked the calendar.
Renamed by notification in September 2023, along with Osmanabad to Dharashiv. We use both names because people still search for Aurangabad.
It completed end to end in June 2025 and has its own interchange for the city. Six to seven hours now, and far more predictable than the old road.
Both close to the city and both worth the half day that the cave closing days will hand you anyway.
Because Ajanta shuts on Monday and Ellora on Tuesday, almost every three day trip has one morning with no caves in it. The city itself fills it comfortably, and most itineraries never plan for this.
Between the city and Ellora, so it pairs with the Ellora day. A serious climb, and the medieval defences are the most intact in the Deccan.
In the city, and often called the poor man’s Taj, which is unfair to it. Half an hour.
The twelfth Jyotirlinga, right beside Ellora, so if you are doing the caves you are already there.
