Our chauffeurs know this circuit. They know the order the temples are taken in, where the car can wait, how long darshan usually runs at each one, and where to stop for food and a toilet break. You are not directing the driver from the back seat.

The Innova Crysta is the same trip at ₹500 a day less, driver plus 6 with two captain seats in the middle row; driver plus 7 is subject to availability, when a bench extension is fitted between the captain seats. The Innova Hycross ZX Top is the top model: powered recliner captain seats, a panoramic sunroof and a near-silent hybrid cabin. Rates follow the kilometres covered in a day, so adding a day usually lowers the daily rate. Work out your exact rate.

Included
  • Innova Hycross ZX Top
  • Chauffeur for the whole trip
  • Driver allowance
  • No kilometre meter, no minimum kilometres
You pay
  • Fuel: car given on full tank, returned on full tank
  • Toll and parking, at actuals
  • GST, only if you need a GST invoice

Nothing is collected from you on the road. The daily rate covers the chauffeur and his allowance. You buy the fuel, full tank out and full tank back, and you pay toll and parking exactly as incurred, against the FASTag statement and the cash receipts. No night charge, no minimum kilometres, no extra kilometre rate, and nothing added for crossing a state line. The car is serviced on schedule at the authorised Toyota workshop and we keep every invoice. Every rule of a booking, written down.

Ujjain is about 640 km from Andheri, roughly eleven hours by the Agra road, and Omkareshwar is 140 km further south. Four days runs about 1,450 km garage to garage. On the flat rate none of it is billed by the kilometre: you pay the day rate and fill the fuel your trip uses. A day runs until 12 midnight. If the car reaches our garage after 11 PM on the last day, one extra day's driver allowance is payable; after 12 midnight, the next day's rate applies. A ₹2,000 deposit confirms your date.

Our Pick for Ujjain and Omkareshwar

Why the Hycross suits a four o'clock aarti.

The Bhasma Aarti means being awake at two in the morning after a day of driving. What you want afterwards is a seat that reclines and a cabin quiet enough to sleep in on the way back to the hotel.

Near-silent hybrid cabin. The Hycross ZX Top is a petrol strong hybrid. It pulls away on electric power in silence, and the cabin stays calm, with far less engine noise and vibration than a diesel.

How It Works

The car waits through the Bhasma Aarti.

We leave Mumbai early on day one

Ujjain is a long first day up the Agra road. The Hycross and your chauffeur reach your door at first light, tank full.

The car waits through Bhasma Aarti

The Bhasma Aarti starts at four in the morning and the queue forms before three. The car and chauffeur are there when you come out.

Home on the fourth evening, full tank

Refill at the end and pay the day rates plus toll and parking. That is the whole bill.

What to See

Two Jyotirlingas, an island and the Shipra ghats.

Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga

The third Jyotirlinga, and the only one facing south. The Bhasma Aarti before dawn is unlike anything else in the country.

Omkareshwar

The fourth Jyotirlinga, on an island shaped like the Om symbol in the Narmada. Reached by bridge or by boat.

Mamleshwar Temple

Across the water from Omkareshwar, and counted by many as part of the same Jyotirlinga.

Ram Ghat, Ujjain

The Shipra ghats where the Simhastha Kumbh is held. Quiet and worth an hour at first light.

Kal Bhairav Temple

A short drive from Mahakal, with its own particular tradition of offering.

Maheshwar

The fort and the ghats on the Narmada, about an hour from Omkareshwar. Easy to add on the fifth day.

Know Before You Go

Six things worth knowing before Ujjain.

Bhasma Aarti needs a booking

Permission is issued in advance and the queue starts around three in the morning. Book it before you travel and tell us the date; the car will be ready.

Five days costs less per day than four

The same route spread over five days averages about 290 km a day instead of 363, which drops it a band to ₹6,000. More time, less per day.

Omkareshwar is a separate day

It is about 140 km south of Ujjain through hills. Trying to see both in one day means seeing neither properly.

Nashik and Indore are the natural halts

The first day is long. Most families break it or start very early.

Dress and offerings

Traditional dress is expected inside Mahakal for certain darshans. Ask at the booking and carry a change.

Best months

October to March. Ujjain in May is very hot, and Shravan brings enormous crowds.

Starting from Thane, Mulund or Kalyan? The Agra road leaves the city on your side. Tell us your pickup point and we will time the departure around it.

Bhasma Aarti

You have to book this yourself, and the window opens earlier than you think.

The Mahakaleshwar temple is explicit: Bhasma Aarti booking is on the official website only, first come first served. Regular slots open at 8 AM on the first of the previous month, so a December trip is booked on 1 November at 8 AM. Tatkal opens at 8 AM one day before, against photo ID. We will have you at the temple in time for the 4 AM aarti. We cannot get you in, and anyone who says they can is not the temple.

The aarti is 4 to 6 AM, every single day

Mahakaleshwar is the only Shivalinga where the Bhasma Aarti is performed daily. That is the reason to make the trip and the reason the slots go.

The official site has moved

It is now a Madhya Pradesh government domain, shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in. The old .com address redirects. Book only there.

We will not print the fee

The temple does not publish a Bhasma Aarti price on its own site. The figures circulating online are not official, so we will not repeat them. There is a charge, paid at booking.

Omkareshwar is 140 km from Ujjain

Madhya Pradesh Tourism’s own figure, and about 80 km from Indore. Better taken on the way in or out via Indore than as a day run from Ujjain.

The island is reached by bridge

Mamleshwar Setu, a 270 foot hanging bridge over the Narmada. Boats run too, but several sites still describe the island as boat only. The Statue of Oneness, 108 feet of Adi Shankaracharya, went up in September 2023.

Simhastha Kumbh at Ujjain falls in 2028

Once every twelve years. If that is your plan, start it early, because everything in Ujjain will be booked.

The Drive

Six hundred and fifty kilometres and two states.

Mumbai to Ujjain is roughly 620 to 660 km via Indore, eleven to twelve hours of driving. This is the longest route we run as a single booking and it needs four days at minimum if Omkareshwar is in the plan. Two nights for Ujjain alone is punishing and we will say so.

Four days minimum with Omkareshwar

Day out, Ujjain, Omkareshwar via Indore, day back. Compress it further and you will see the inside of the car.

More days usually means a lower rate

The daily band follows the average kilometres. Spreading the same distance over four days rather than three often drops you a band.

Our flagship car, the whole way

Same vehicle and same chauffeur from Andheri to Ujjain and back. No handover at a state line.

Toll at actuals

We cannot verify the per stretch rates this far out and will not invent them. You get the receipts.

Tell us the aarti date when you book

Because the booking window, not your travel dates, is what decides whether the trip works.

October to March

Madhya Pradesh in May is not a car holiday.

Checked on 4 October 2026. The rates, road conditions, toll positions and timings on this page were reviewed on that date by the Rane family, who drive this route themselves. If anything has changed since, tell us on WhatsApp and we will correct it.

Common Questions · Mumbai to Ujjain and Omkareshwar Cab

What people ask before booking.

How much is a Mumbai to Ujjain trip by car?▾
Ujjain and Omkareshwar over four days is about 1,450 km garage to garage, an average of about 363 km a day, which is the ₹6,500 band, so it is ₹6,500 a day Monday to Saturday and ₹7,000 on Sunday. Spread over five days it averages about 290 km and drops to ₹6,000 a day. Fuel, toll and parking are extra and the driver allowance is included.
Is there an extra charge for going to Madhya Pradesh?▾
No. The same distance bands apply anywhere in India. Your car runs on an All India Tourist Permit, the fee for which is shared between the states, so there is nothing further to pay at the boundary.
Can you wait for the Bhasma Aarti?▾
Yes. The aarti begins at four in the morning and the queue forms well before three. The same car and chauffeur take you there and are waiting when you come out. Nothing extra is charged for the hours the car stands.
How far is Ujjain from Mumbai, and how long is the drive?▾
About 640 km from Andheri, roughly eleven hours by the Agra road with stops. Most families break the first day at Nashik or leave very early.
Is the trip billed per kilometre?▾
No. There is no kilometre meter and no hourly counting. You are told one figure for the whole trip before the car moves, and you pay fuel, full tank to full tank, plus toll and parking.
Can we add Maheshwar?▾
Yes. Maheshwar is about an hour from Omkareshwar and fits a fifth day, which also brings the daily rate down to ₹6,000.
Is there a state tax for taking the car to Madhya Pradesh?▾
Our daily rate does not change for crossing a state line, and we add nothing for it. What can be charged is a government levy, and that is passed to you at actuals against the receipt: a state entry fee or entry tax where the state levies one on a tourist vehicle, and any monument or park entry fee on the vehicle. Our car holds an All India Tourist Permit, so most states charge nothing at all. You pay only what is written on the receipt.
Is this a Mumbai to Ujjain and Omkareshwar taxi, a cab or a car rental?▾
People search for all of those and here they mean the same thing. A Mumbai to Ujjain and Omkareshwar taxi, a Ujjain and Omkareshwar cab service, Innova car hire and a Mumbai to Ujjain and Omkareshwar car rental all get you the same arrangement from us: one chauffeur-driven Innova that stays with you for the whole trip, priced exactly as this page sets out. We are a car rental service run by the Rane family since 1988 and not an aggregator app, so the car is ours, the chauffeur is on our payroll, and the figure we quote you is the figure you pay. A Mumbai to Ujjain and Omkareshwar cab booking takes one WhatsApp message: the date, your pickup area and how many of you there are.

Mumbai to Ujjain and Omkareshwar in the Hycross ZX Top, from ₹6,500 a day (Sunday ₹7,000).
