Included
  • Innova Hycross ZX Top
  • Chauffeur for the whole trip
  • Driver allowance
  • No kilometre meter, no minimum kilometres
You pay
  • Fuel: car given on full tank, returned on full tank
  • Toll and parking, at actuals
  • GST, only if you need a GST invoice

Nothing is collected from you on the road. The daily rate covers the chauffeur and his allowance. You buy the fuel, full tank out and full tank back, and you pay toll and parking exactly as incurred, against the FASTag statement and the cash receipts. No night charge, no minimum kilometres, no extra kilometre rate, and nothing added for crossing a state line. The car is serviced on schedule at the authorised Toyota workshop and we keep every invoice. Every rule of a booking, written down.

Lonavala is about 85 km from Andheri, roughly two hours on the Expressway. A day trip with the viewpoints and caves usually runs 200 to 250 km. On the flat rate none of it is billed by the kilometre: you pay the day rate and fill the fuel your trip uses. A day runs until 12 midnight. If the car reaches our garage after 11 PM on the last day, one extra day's driver allowance is payable; after 12 midnight, the next day's rate applies. A ₹2,000 deposit confirms your date.

Our Pick for Lonavala

Why the Hycross suits a Lonavala day.

In the monsoon everyone gets soaked at some point, and the car stops being transport and becomes the dry base for the day: somewhere to change, leave the bags and wait out a heavy spell.

Near-silent hybrid cabin. The Hycross ZX Top is a petrol strong hybrid. It pulls away on electric power in silence, and the cabin stays calm, with far less engine noise and vibration than a diesel.

How It Works

The car waits, the meter does not run.

We arrive early, tank full

Leave Mumbai by 6 or 7 AM to beat the Saturday toll queue. The Hycross and your chauffeur reach your door.

Viewpoints and caves at your pace

Tiger Point, Karla and Bhaja, Lohagad: go as you please. There is no kilometre meter running.

Home by night, return on a full tank

Refill at the end of the trip and pay the day rate plus toll/parking. That is the whole bill.

What to See

Viewpoints, caves and one very good fort.

Sunset over the Sahyadri valley near Lonavala and Khandala

Tiger Point and Lion's Point

The two big valley viewpoints. Go early rather than for sunset: parking fills fast, and in the monsoon cloud often closes in by late afternoon.

Karla and Bhaja Caves

Rock-cut Buddhist caves over two thousand years old, up a flight of steps. The best wet-weather stop, and quiet on a weekday.

Lohagad Fort

A straightforward fort walk with a real reward at the top. The last stretch gets slippery in the rain, so shoes matter more than fitness.

Bhushi Dam

Famous for the stepped overflow in the monsoon. Entry into the water is often restricted, so plan to watch rather than wade.

Pawna Lake

Camping country and a quieter mood than the main circuit. Best as an overnight or a second day.

Rajmachi Point and the chikki market

The valley view on the Khandala side, and the market for chikki and fudge on the way home.

Know Before You Go

Six things worth knowing.

Leave by 6 or 7 AM on weekends

The Expressway backs up at the toll on Saturday mornings and again on Sunday evenings. An early start changes the whole day.

Monsoon rules are enforced

Entry into waterfalls, rivers and dam areas is restricted in heavy rain, and some spots close for periods each monsoon. Water areas are cleared by early evening.

Carry shoes you do not mind ruining

Everything is wet from June to September, and the rock at viewpoints and fort paths gets slippery.

Pick one direction for the day

Khandala, Lonavala and the Pawna side are close on the map but slow between. Choose one rather than trying all three.

The caves are the rain plan

If the viewpoints are a white wall, Karla and Bhaja are the better call. You are under rock and the crowds thin out.

Best months

June to September for green hills and waterfalls, weekdays if you can. October to February for clear views and no restrictions.

Starting from Navi Mumbai, Panvel or Thane? The Expressway starts on your side of the city, so Lonavala is even closer. Tell us your pickup point and we will time the departure around it.

The Road

You no longer drive the Khandala ghat, and some of you will miss it.

The Mumbai Pune Expressway missing link opened on 1 May 2026. It replaces the 19.8 km Khandala ghat section with 13.3 km of twin tunnels and a cable stayed bridge over the Tiger valley, at 100 kph instead of 60, saving roughly 6 km and about 25 minutes, and it carries no extra toll. It rejoins the expressway at Kusgaon, which is where the Lonavala exit already was, so a Lonavala bound car now goes through the tunnels and leaves at the same place. The honest consequence: your passengers no longer see Amrutanjan Point and the ghat views unless we deliberately take the old road.

Ask us for the old ghat if you want it

The old carriageway is still open. It carries hazardous cargo, which is permanently barred from the tunnels, and heavy goods vehicles until November 2026. If the drive itself is part of the day out, say so when you book and we will take it.

The new link is not landslide proof

It shut from 4 AM on 6 July 2026 after a landslide at the tunnel two exit and everything was pushed back onto the old Lonavala route. Plan a monsoon trip on the basis that this can happen, because it already has.

Realistically 2.5 to 3.5 hours

The expressway leg is the quick part. Getting out of Mumbai is the variable, and a Friday evening or a Saturday morning is a different journey from a Tuesday. We would rather tell you three hours and be early.

The toll

Rs 320 is the full Mumbai to Pune car rate, in force since April 2023, and the corporation has confirmed no rise before April 2030. You leave the expressway at Lonavala, and the toll is charged only for the stretch you travel, so it is less than the full run.

The glass skywalk does not exist

You will see a lot about a glass skywalk at Tiger Point and Lion’s Point. It has been stalled for years, no contractor has taken it up, and it is not built. We would rather you heard that from us than drove up looking for it.

Road works above Bhushi Dam

The road from Bhushi Dam up to Tiger Point and Lion’s Point was being widened through 2026. Expect works traffic on that stretch.

Monsoon Rules

Pune district closes things every monsoon, and the dates change every year.

Since the Bhushi Dam tragedy in June 2024, when five people including four children were swept away, the Pune Collector has issued a prohibitory order in the Lonavala area every monsoon. It typically names Bhushi Dam, Tiger Point, Lion’s Point, Pawna Dam, Lohagad, Visapur, Tikona and the Karla and Bhaja area, and typically bans entering water, parking at the roadside, taking vehicles close to dams and waterfalls, selfies at cliff edges, alcohol and loudspeakers. We check the order in force before every monsoon trip. We will not quote you last year’s dates, because in 2026 the order was lifted early, on 16 July, when the rain eased.

There are two separate orders

One under the criminal procedure code bans the activities. A second, under the Motor Vehicles Act, closes specific roads. Lifting one does not lift the other, and in 2026 only the first was revoked.

Roads that were closed in 2026

Bhaje to Lohagad fort closed to all visitor traffic. Bhaje to Malavli and Karla closed with a long detour. Heavy vehicles banned on the old highway between Karla Phata and Vehergaon. If your plan was Lohagad in July, it would not have happened.

Lonavala town on a monsoon weekend

A one way system through the bazaar, no roadside parking near Bhushi Dam, and a hundred extra police drafted in. Go on a weekday if you can. If it has to be Saturday, leave Mumbai before dawn.

Bhushi Dam has its own rules

Visiting hours are restricted, vehicles are kept out of the area after mid afternoon and buses other than local ones are barred. Enforcement varies. Your chauffeur will find out what is being applied on the day rather than guess.

The deaths are not only in the monsoon

Four people drowned in the Maval area on 2 May 2026, three at a dam and one in the Pavana river. If children are in the group, the sensible plan is viewpoints and gardens, not water.

What we will not do

Park on the ghat road for a photo, or drop you at a waterfall the order has closed. It is not caution for its own sake. People have died at these exact spots.

Where the Car Goes

What is a drive, what is a walk, and what is a trek.

Rajmachi Point yes, Rajmachi Fort no

Two different places and it catches out drivers who do not know the area. The Point is a roadside viewpoint near Khandala that any car reaches. The Fort is at Udhewadi up a rough track that needs a high clearance utility vehicle, and in the monsoon cars get no further than Jambhi Phata. We will take you to the Point. We will not take an Innova up to the Fort.

Tiger Point and Lion’s Point

Both are drive up viewpoints with a short walk at the end, on the Kurvande road. They are also the two places the monsoon order singles out for the no selfies at dangerous cliffs clause, and the reason it exists is not theoretical.

Karla and Bhaja caves

Second century BCE Buddhist rock cut caves, protected monuments with a modest entry ticket. Malavli is the drop point. Karla has a long flight of steps up to the caves and the Ekvira Devi temple. Bhaja needs a short hike up the hill. Not a step free outing.

Lohagad fort

There is a motorable road up to Lohagadwadi, which shortens the climb a great deal, and from Malavli the full trail is about 10 km and two to three hours. In the 2026 monsoon the Bhaje to Lohagad road was shut outright, so check with us before you plan it for July.

Visapur and Duke’s Nose

Both are proper treks, not viewpoints. Visapur stands higher than Lohagad and the tourism department calls it the more challenging climb. Duke’s Nose from Kurvande is about 2 km and an hour and a half of steep rock. Lovely, and not a family afternoon in the rain.

Chikki on the way out, not on the way in

The chikki and fudge shops are on the main bazaar road, which is exactly where the weekend one way system and the parking squeeze bite. Do the sightseeing first and stop for chikki as we leave. It takes twenty minutes instead of an hour.

Common Questions · Mumbai to Lonavala Cab

What people ask before booking.

How much is a Mumbai to Lonavala cab in the Hycross?▾
₹5,500 for a day Monday to Saturday, and ₹6,000 on Sunday. A Saturday and Sunday weekend is ₹11,500. Fuel, toll and parking are extra. The car is given on a full tank and returned on a full tank, and the driver allowance is included.
How far is Lonavala from Mumbai, and how long is the drive?▾
About 85 km from Andheri, around two hours on the Expressway. A day trip with the viewpoints and caves usually runs 200 to 250 km.
Is the Mumbai to Lonavala taxi billed per kilometre?▾
No. The Hycross flat rate has no kilometre meter and no hourly counting. You pay the daily rate, the fuel your trip uses, and toll/parking.
Can I book a Mumbai to Lonavala cab for 2 days?▾
Yes. Two days cost two day rates, and the car and chauffeur stay with you overnight. The driver allowance covers his own food and stay.
Is Lonavala worth it in the monsoon?▾
It is the most popular season, and the busiest. Go on a weekday if you can, start early, and keep the Karla and Bhaja caves as the plan for heavy rain.
Can we add Mahabaleshwar or Karjat?▾
Yes. Lonavala is on the way to Pune and Mahabaleshwar, so it fits well into a longer trip; see Mumbai to Mahabaleshwar and Mumbai to Karjat.
Is this a Mumbai to Lonavala taxi, a cab or a car rental?▾
People search for all of those and here they mean the same thing. A Mumbai to Lonavala taxi, a Lonavala cab service, Innova car hire and a Mumbai to Lonavala car rental all get you the same arrangement from us: one chauffeur-driven Innova that stays with you for the whole trip, priced exactly as this page sets out. We are a car rental service run by the Rane family since 1988 and not an aggregator app, so the car is ours, the chauffeur is on our payroll, and the figure we quote you is the figure you pay. A Mumbai to Lonavala cab booking takes one WhatsApp message: the date, your pickup area and how many of you there are.
